A Child’s Place at Unity House has been providing education to young children since 1973. Originally called Unity Sunshine Program, we serve approximately 1,000 children a year in our center-based classrooms as well as in their homes and in community settings. We celebrate our two hundred employees in their dedication to meeting the interests and needs of our children and families. As part of Unity House of Troy we are able to offer additional resources that benefit children and families. Families are welcome and encouraged to participate in our Parent Advisory Committee that meets throughout the year to advise our administrators on areas of focus. We are a program that is ever evolving to meet the needs of children and families in a way that is thoughtful and inclusive.
Parent-Teacher conferences are offered twice per year and as needed to all families. Progress Reports are provided to families twice per year as well.
Families are always welcome to visit classrooms, and to attend our celebrations throughout the year, including:
All children in our center-based programs receive breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Our meal program meets the nutritional requirements for children at the different stages of development and is approved by a NYS Department of Health nutritionist.
My girls have been attending A Child's Place (Unity Sunshine Program) for 2 ½ years. My girls are 4 and 2 years old. Unity Sunshine is a great program where we feel comfortable knowing the experienced staff have their growth and progress in mind.
My child is now 5 years old. He started at A Child’s Place (Unity Sunshine) when he was 3 years old. Casey receives speech and special education services. We’ve had an amazing experience with A Child’s Place. The staff and teachers are so accepting of Casey and really do help with his coping skills and calming down methods.
